About this photograph:
I bought myself a bundle of tulips at the local grocery store - fresh flowers are a luxury I am indulging during the Covid-19 pandemic. I kept these tulips as long as possible until they were well past when many people might keep them. They were full-blown and the pedals were near-transparent from their usual opaque white. But, the stems were still strong and the texture of the pedals was incredible.
When I began setting up this photograph, I knew I wanted to contrast the white tulips with the black background. The natural window light made their petals shine like silver. This photograph is a composite of three individual images, wherein each tulip was set as the focal point. I then "painted" the images together to achieve my desired end result.
