I am so thrilled to be sharing this Ticklebelly Hill wedding! Kate and Mike’s wedding was the first time I photographed a real wedding at my dear friend Sarah’s gorgeous venue near St. Andrews, New Brunswick. I had been waiting for this day for a long time, and it was well worth the wait.
I love that Kate and Mike choose to get ready in St. Andrews! They rented an beautifully restored heritage house, named Windrose Manor where they were able to host a bunch of their wedding party! The house was the perfect setting for getting ready photos, with beautiful light and space to spread out so that all the clutter that photographer typically have to be creative to shoot around was easily avoided. And, the house was large enough that Kate and Mike were able to get ready in the same house without seeing each other. Following the first look and a few wedding party pictures in the gardens at Windrose Manor, we headed out for a few seaside portraits and then onto Ticklebelly Hill for their gorgeous outdoor ceremony. I loved the simple greenery and rose garlands that decorated the arbour. And I really loved that there was not a hydrangea in sight (sorry if you love hydrangeas – I don’t mean to offend but I am so over hydrangeas at weddings).
The real beauty of the day however, was that this was Kate and Mike’s first day as husband and wife. This was a long-awaited day for many, especially for the newlyweds who met years ago as students at St.FX. And, surrounded by their family and best friends, these two said “I do” to forever. It was a real honour to witness it and document it. I love my job.
