The New River Beach trails are amoung some of my favourite places to photograph portraits sessions. If New River was closer to St. Andrews, I would probably drag my couples there for wedding day portraits all the time. This is probably why New River Beach is listed amoung my bucket list locations for photographing elopements. This one location offers so many diverse settings for portraits, from a sandy beach, to forest trails, to rocky cliffs overlooking the Bay of Fundy. It is a simply gorgeous location, and last summer I was fortunate enough to photograph Erin and Thomas’s engagement session there.
I always plan an engagement session with every couple who commissions me to photograph their wedding day. The engagement session serves as a practice session – an opportunity to spend some time in front of my camera, building trust with me and shirking the nerves of being photographed! Typically these “practice sessions” are planned for St. Andrews but I love when couples are up for exploring a new location and allowing me the opportunity to create a more custom plan for them.

Beyond the location, other things that made this a perfect engagement session was Erin’s dress. I am a sucker for pretty dresses and photographing them! Actually, Erin’s dress inspired my own wardrobe choice for the anniversary portraits that my husband had taken last fall. Erin also had her hair and make-up professionally done but nothing over the top. Her casual yet elegant look paired well Thomas’s own casual but well put-together ensemble.

This next set of photos are amoung some of my absolute favourite engagement portraits from this past year. The light, the location, the light wind dancing with Erin’s dress…so great!
