For a couple of years now my friend Cara and I have been looking forward to a day when we could work together. Cara is an incredibly talented florist with her own floral studio named Trille located in Australia, and when she and her husband began planning their trip home to Canada to visit family we began planning a shoot together. Pretty much everything fell apart at the last minute (our make-up artist had to cancel, the indoor location we arrange for “getting ready photos” fell through, and more than half the flowers Cara brought with her from Toronto died) but we pulled it together nonetheless. Simple is always best, anyway, and the whole point was just to spend time together creating. And, the dress. THE DRESS.
This styled shoot represents exactly the kind of elopement I would love to photograph! A gorgeous location, a beautiful dress, some champagne to toast with and Couple so in love and excited to start their married life together! If you’re thinking of eloping, then I would love to hear from you! I would love to photograph your secret nuptials and help you find a gorgeous location to say “I do.”
So grateful to our friends (and Cara’s sister-in-law) Zoe and Dave (aka the musical duo Colourful Language) for modelling for us just hours after arriving from Vancouver via a red-eye flight. They’ve been married for seven years but act like newlyweds, which made them perfect for this “creative elopement” shoot. Thank you to The Birdcage Vintage for lending us the dress. And thank you to my friend Erica for coming along as an assistant and working her magic to make the wimpy little store-bought cake look so magical.
