I have big news to share with you and now that things are officially official, I am ready to spill the beans!

This past winter I decided to make my first ever “vision board.” Though I was skeptical about its benefits, I proceeded to fill it with images that represented some of my short and long-term goals and a few very intentional quotes to keep me centered. It took me until May, but I finally finished it and set it as the background image on my computer.
Every day since I sit down at my desk for the workday, I absorb those images and words.
“you are capable of achieving your biggest goals”
On my vision board, I have an image representing my goal of having my own studio, one day. A space outside of my home where I could go to meet with clients, do my daily work, and stretch and expand my creativity. My business and creative needs have long outgrown my small home office. I dream of the day when I could “hang a shingle” somewhere else.
And it’s actually happening 🤯
What started with a random call last month from an old friend named Mat, has led to one of my biggest dreams for my business coming true in a crazy short time.
Next week I get the keys and will spend the next couple of weeks setting up my studio and office space, right on Water Street in St. Andrews.
about the space – seriously meant to be
It’s not just any old space. It’s the old overflow seating space for Honeybeans where in 2011 I spent countless hours writing my first business plan. And, subsequently over the many years, spent hours and days working to grow Shannon-May Photography, editing photos, meeting with colleagues, and getting to know my clients.
And, it’s the very same space where my husband Scott and I had our first date nearly 9 years ago.
the universe came knocking and I said yes
Since that initial phone call, I started to say “yes” one little step at a time to this invitation towards making my dreams a reality and there have been some really affirming moments and conversations showing me how the universe has been shifting to make things happen. I am reminded of other times I said yes, one step at a time, to some life-changing invitations. Like, when I decided to quit my career job and move across the country to attend Canada’s Smallest University or that time I decided to start a wedding photography business instead of going to law school.
I cannot wait to keep sharing with you about my studio and all the plans I have for it. I already have plans to offer some “inaugural” limited edition studio sessions in mid-November and will announce the date and details in September 🤞. Email subscribers will be the first to know so if you are not already on the list, you can sign up here: The SMP Email List
I’ll be sharing peeks of it in my Instagram Stories as we begin work next week to paint it and get things set up. So if you’re not already following me there make sure you hit “follow.”
And, thank you so much for being here and for cheering me on. None of this would be possible without you.
Love & Sunshine,
Shannon-May
