Elope in St. Andrews, New Brunswick

Couples looking for elopement ideas, or specifically for ideas to elope in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, this post is for you!

elope in st. andrews, new brunswick

During the unprecedented time of the Covid-19 pandemic, couples have been forced to reimagine their wedding. With social distancing restrictions in place, some couples have chosen to postpone their wedding until they can have the large celebration they always dreamed of. Other couples have chosen to adjust their plans completely, opting to elope just the two of them or with their family and friends bubble.

St. Andrews has been a long-sought-after location for elopements in Atlantic Canada. From the beautiful coastline to the charming and historic architecture, our little resort town has been the place where couples from all over Canada (and the world) have chosen to say “I do” and begin their married lives together. And the options for where to elope are endless!

Below are some ideas for you to consider, ranging from inclusive packages for couples who wish to load off as much of the planning as possible to options that allow for full, personalized customizations. If you planning to elope in St. Andrews and if any of these ideas speak to you, I encourage you to reach out to the businesses and start planning.

And of course, if you need a photographer I would love to chat with you!

inclusive packages

The following Venues off inclusive packages (in addition to custom options) and are a great option for couples who wish to elope in St. Andrews but are looking for a minor amount of planning involved.

  1. New Brunswick Elopements – elopements for couples who want a meaningful ceremony and

  2. Ticklebelly Hill – is a beautiful barn venue surrounded by fields and forest and Sarah (the lovely venue owner) has crafted a special inclusive package that includes Unboring! Wedding Officiant Mark Allen Groleau, and Shannon-May Photography (that’s me!) as your personal photographer, along with a delicious cake, a charcuterie board, and sparkling wine for the couple and up to eight (8) guests! Ticklebelly Hill is located about 20 minutes outside of St. Andrews in Oak Bay, New Brunswick.

  3. The Algonquin Resort has a ceremony package available for bookings until March 31st, 2021. It includes a ceremony space, chairs, two nights' accommodations, and a bottle of bubbly for the newlyweds. The Algonquin Resort sits atop the hill overlooking the town of St. Andrews and is a destination in itself!

  4. The Kennedy Inn is one of the oldest buildings and hotels in St. Andrews and sits in the very heart of St. Andrews. It’s full of charm and the management team has created a special elopement package for couples and up to four guests! Their elopement package includes an indoor ceremony space and dinner for six, in addition to two nights of accommodation for the newlywed couple.

custom packages

The following venues offer wedding packages that are made to order to suit each couple uniquely who would like to elope in St. Andrews and have a big part in planning out all the details.

  1. Kingsbrae Garden is a world-class public garden. It is a perfect setting for an elopement or intimate wedding. Kingsbrae Garden has multiple gardens that can be used for a ceremony and the team there can offer many different dining experiences as well (from very casual to very formal). Email Chelsea at the garden – she would love to put something together that will be perfect for what each couple is looking for.

  2. Ministers Island is a hidden gem in St. Andrews and has the most magical story to accompany its beautiful landscape and architecture. You have to drive across the ocean floor when the tide is out to access the island. The possibilities for a ceremony location on the island are endless, however, couples often book the bathhouse to ensure they have an indoor space for their ceremony in the event of unfavourable weather. And new this year is their food service! Imagine driving across the ocean floor to say “I do” while overlooking the ocean, followed by portraits in a field, a first, and on the beach before enjoying a unique picnic prepared by their on-site chef! Email Niel to get planning!

  3. Tara Manor Inn is another historic venue in St. Andrews and they have the most beautiful trees tucked away that would make the perfect setting for an elopement or micro wedding ceremony. They also have a balcony with views of the water and town (on clear days) that would make an equally lovely spot for a couple to say “I do.” Follow this up with an intimate dinner in their restaurant and you have a lovely low-key elopement.

  4. Garden Gate Bed & Breakfast is located on the historic plateau of St. Andrews and has the loveliest courtyard garden that would make an ideal setting for a private ceremony and can accommodate you and up to nine of your guests. Imagine having the whole place to yourselves for a weekend staycation in New Brunswick and hosting your wedding ceremony here! Stephen will be your host and you can email him here to find out more information.

  5. The Cottage Chic Annex is a private rental in the heart of downtown St. Andrews with private beach access!! This would be an idyllic location for couples wanting a “backyard elopement” but on the beach and in a sweet resort town! You can stay here, your guests can stay in the loft (a second rental space in the same building), you can host your ceremony outside overlooking the water, or right on the beach… and then walk to a local restaurant to celebrate (and then stumble home after many drinks) or you can order in and have a private meal. The possibilities are endless. Use the links above to book through Airbnb or to connect with the host.

a magical outdoor ceremony

If it’s just the two of you and/or a couple of witnesses present for your elopement in St. Andrews, you can always plan your ceremony to take place literally anywhere. The beaches, trails, and other public spaces that make St. Andrews so beautiful would make incredible backdrops for elopements. However, I do always recommend having an indoor option in case of unfavorable weather and any of the above options would lend to that.

last words

A couple other ideas I thought I would suggest making your elopement in St. Andrews an excellent experience.

  1. Consider a Jeep Tour of St. Andrews on the way to your ceremony or after your photos are all done! My husband and I are planning to take this tour this summer as a fun way to experience our town.

  2. Book a whale-watching excursion! Seriously one of my favourite things to do every summer. There are quite a few operators in St. Andrews but my personal favourite is with Quoddy Link Marine.

You’ve been much much more than a photographer; you’ve been a guide, a source of support, an expert, and a friend.

You are so talented and we are so lucky that we were able to work with you. Thank you for making the experience so special for us.

Your advice, tips and guidance along the way have meant a lot and were so appreciated especially as we navigated uncharted territories (professional photos lol). We always knew we were in the best hands with you.
