2017 was one of the most remarkable years in my life. Firstly, I GOT MARRIED. Not to take away from all the amazing couples who welcomed me in to their lives to document their wedding, but… my wedding was the best one I have ever experienced!
Every wedding I photographed leading to my own day only added to my excitement to be a bride, and every wedding I photographed afterward had me reliving moments of my own best day. I truly believe this made me a better wedding photographer, making 2017 the best of my career!
As you can imagine, it was pretty hard to narrow this “best of” collection down. I did my very best but there were just so many amazing moments I was witness to and my couples gave me their all as we collaborated to create some of the most stunning and timeless portraits. The more I do this, the more I realize that being a wedding photographer is to create a "historical documentation" (a term borrowed from my bride and teacher, Maryanne) of a wedding day.
If you make it through this post – I applaud you, and thank you for indulging me!
To everyone person I photographed: Thank you for believing in me and trusting me with your best day. Without you, there would be no SMP.
And thank you to my incredible team of second shooters who worked with me this year: Stephanie (my William T. Ricker) / Bailey (my mini-me) / Andrea (my fan-girl with her own mad skills, and Jeremy (my emotional support and creative partner on a particularly important day). Couldn’t have photographed these weddings without your skills and happy faces!
And last but definitely not least: Scott, honey, thank you for choosing me and for believing in me in every way possible. Thank you for supporting my career choice, for not getting mad when I spend the whole time on my laptop working while we “watch” a movie because I am “in the zone”, and for being as excited as I am when I book another wedding… Thank you for being my steady flying eagle while I flit all over the place pursing my creativity.
